The Baltimore Ravens have been taking some major steps forward this offseason. They fired John Harbaugh after a disastrous 2025 season, and moved in with the new, hiring Jesse Minter on Thursday.

However, not even a week into Minter’s head coaching career, there’s drama unfolding. While fans have been impressed with the moves the 42-year-old is making with his coaching staff, it’s the roster that is causing trouble.

On Monday, posts to an Instagram account run by wide receiver Rashod Bateman surfaced, where complaints about his usage were evident. However, Bateman later apologized, making a statement and noting that his account was hacked.

Bateman and others are understandably frustrated following the outcome of their 2025 campaign. They finished 8-9, missed the playoffs, and in Bateman’s case, he had a disappointing year after signing a three-year, $36.75 million extension back in June.

In 2024, Bateman had a career-year with 45 receptions for 756 yards and nine touchdowns. In 2025, though, the 26-year-old finished the year with 19 receptions for 227 yards and two touchdowns.

Now, he’s in the middle of drama.

Rashod Bateman already igniting drama early in Ravens’ offseason

Regardless of whether Bateman was hacked or not, it’s not the first time he’s ignited controversy during his NFL career. He had similar social media drama in 2023 when he was defending himself and his teammates, had contract disagreements, and had shown up late to camp.

It looked like Bateman and the team were taking a step in the right direction this past offseason. Despite trade rumors, the two parties agreed on a new deal. Bateman was on his way to breaking out, but much like the rest of the roster, the 2021 first-round pick took a significant step back.

Bateman remains a promising player. Much of his 2025 troubles can be correlated to questionable usage. As a deep threat, he didn’t have ample opportunity to develop his routes, as Baltimore’s offensive line broke down in pass protection countless times.

Still, after a terrible year for the entire organization, this is the last thing they needed heading into the offseason.
