Although the Baltimore Ravens are coming off one of the most disappointing seasons in recent memory, they have a ton of hope for 2026. They’ve had a tremendous offseason that certainly warrants that hype. The team hired an exciting young head coach in Jesse Minter and signed a star pass rusher in Trey Hendrickson to hopefully turn the corner on defense.
Of course, there’s still a lot to prove. Baltimore saw a similar amount of hype last year, but fell flat on their face and missed the playoffs. This year should be different, though. It’s a new era, and many of the flaws that came back to bite them year after year should be firmly in the past.
However, former Pittsburgh Steeler and bitter rival Ben Roethlisberger isn’t buying into that hype. In fact, he thinks the Ravens’ Super Bowl chances are waning. On a podcast with his former teammates, James Harrison and Joe Haden, Roethlisberger mentioned he thinks Pittsburgh is the next AFC North team in line to win a Super Bowl.
“It depends on who’s playing quarterback for the Steelers,” Roethlisberger said. “I probably would’ve said Baltimore because of what they’ve got going on there with Lamar…but I think that their window’s closed….I should say it’s closing.”
You can see his full breakdown below.

Ben Roethlisberger drops a hilarious Baltimore Ravens take
Roethlisberger mentioned that he wasn’t being a homer, but it’s hard to see how he’s not. Yes, the Steelers won the division last year, but it took a full-season collapse up until the literal final seconds of the 2025 regular season for the Ravens to miss the playoffs.
And you can believe that Pittsburgh is next in line to win a Super Bowl out of all the teams in the AFC North. It may be a bit questionable. I mean, he said it himself, there’s some uncertainty at quarterback there. Everyone assumes it’ll be Aaron Rodgers again, and if it is, well then, you have a 42-year-old past-his-prime quarterback leading the way. However, the most stunning part of his breakdown is his belief that Baltimore’s window is closing.
The Ravens may be in the best position among any team in the division. Lamar Jackson is still his MVP self, and if he can just get some blocking help, things should look just fine on offense. On defense, there’s no way they could possibly look worse than they did last year. They were utterly horrendous, but now have more talent and excellent coaching.
Under John Harbaugh, the competitive window may have been closing, but they fired him. Things should look way better with new coaches Jesse Minter, Declan Doyle, and Anthony Weaver calling the shots.
Obviously, nothing’s guaranteed. Baltimore could very well continue to fall short in the Lamar Jackson era. They’re in the best situation, though. Their division rivals would love to have the talent they have on the roster and the coaches in charge. There’s almost zero reason to believe they won’t remain contenders for the next few years.
