Brand-new Ravens trade scenario sends under-the-radar WR to Baltimore

Sure, why not?

The Baltimore Ravens have been continuing to try to round out their wide receiver room without much luck. Last year, they tried to see what DeAndre Hopkins could provide to the unit, and the answer to that was, not much.

That's why Moe Moton of Bleacher Report thinks it's time for the Ravens to go in a different direction at the wide receiver position. Instead of bringing in a seasoned veteran, why not try to find a younger under-the-radar player to add to Lamar Jackson's offense?

The wide receiver that Moton proposed the Ravens acquiring was Dontayvion Wicks via trade with the Packers.

"Wicks has shown he can exceed the expectations of a Day 3 draft pick with limited opportunities in the passing game. However, unless the Packers trade one of the other receivers, he won't reach his full potential with them.

At 6'1", 206 pounds, Wicks can be the big-bodied X-receiver in the Ravens offense who's a threat in the red zone. In his first two seasons, he caught nine touchdown passes while on the field for less than 55 percent of the Packers' offensive snaps."

Bleacher Report suggests Ravens trade for Dontayvion Wicks

This is a pretty interesting trade idea honestly. Wicks might not be a well-known player, but he could be exactly what the Ravens need for Jackson and their offense. The fifth-round pick out of Virginia in the 2023 NFL Draft had his best year as a rookie, tallying 39 catches for 581 yards and four touchdowns. That's solid production for a fifth-round pick, and if the Ravens could get that from their WR3, that'd be a huge win for them.

The Ravens have to get over the hump and while wide receivers haven't been the only problem, it's a position that they need to get more out of. Wicks likely wouldn't cost much in terms of draft compensation and has proven that he can be productive when utilized.

The aging veteran route hasn't worked for Baltimore, so why not go in a new direction? This is a trade idea that could really help Jackson out and give this offense some unexpected juice.
