There is something about a rivalry game that gets both players and fans even more amped up than usual. When it comes to the Baltimore Ravens and Cleveland Browns, nothing is better than those gritty, tough AFC North clashes.
This week, the Ravens look to bounce back after a rough Week 1, having given up a big fourth-quarter lead to the Buffalo Bills. But, don't tell Cleveland Browns safety Grant Delpit the Ravens are already ticked off.
When asked about how difficult it was to tackle Ravens running back Derrick Henry, this week, Delpit responded in a way that he'll soon regret.
"Not hard," the Browns safety told reporter Mary Kay Cabot.
Grant Delpit just called out Derrick Henry in the most laughable way possible
We are really doing this, huh?
Delpit decided it would be a good idea to call out the league's most physically-intimidating running back coming off a heartbreaking loss?
By the way, a lot of running backs can be just that: physically intimidating. Henry is one of the rare breeds who actually walks the walk. He looks like he was created in a lab, and he plays like it too.
Man, the Browns are on fire this week with the bulletin board material they're giving the Ravens.
Have we forgotten what Henry did to the Browns last season? Between both matchups, the Ravens star running back ran 31 times for 211 yards and three rushing touchdowns. For those keeping score at home, that's 6.81 yards per carry.
I get it. The rivalry aspect has to be played out. But, pulling the whole "we ain't scared" card right now? A few days after you dropped a season opener to a team that's notorious for starting slow and has arguably the worst defense in the league?
Looking at you, Cincinnati.
Delpit is simply asking to be stiff-armed into the next galaxy.
You have to believe Henry is locking this quote away for safe keeping and, when it's time for kickoff, look out. I wouldn't want to be a Browns safety on Sunday, but that's just me.
