The Baltimore Ravens may still be reeling from their heartbreaking 27-25 Divisional Round loss to the Buffalo Bills, but one thing is crystal clear: Derrick Henry isn’t ready to move on just yet. The star running back, fresh off a dominant first season in Baltimore, made waves with a simple yet powerful Instagram story that read, “Run it back.”

Henry’s message speaks volumes. After a year in which he rushed for 1,921 yards and 16 touchdowns, it’s clear he believes this team has unfinished business. His debut season with the Ravens was nothing short of spectacular, and it’s no wonder fans—and even the front office—are excited about the possibility of seeing him in Purple and Black for years to come.

General Manager Eric DeCosta wasted no time addressing Henry’s future during his postseason press conference, offering insight into the team’s plans. While Henry still has one year left on his current deal, DeCosta didn’t shy away from discussing a potential extension for the 31-year-old back.

“We’ll look at that. I’m just grateful that Derrick chose us last year. His attitude and the way he played was great to watch. I can’t wait to see him next year. I know it was tough on him to end the way it did. I think we have a chip on our shoulders,” DeCosta said.

DeCosta’s comments highlight just how important Henry has been to the Ravens’ offense. Pairing him with Lamar Jackson gave Baltimore one of the most dangerous backfields in the NFL, and Henry showed no signs of slowing down despite entering his 30s.

DeCosta even emphasized Henry’s leadership and work ethic, two qualities that clearly resonated in a locker room filled with high expectations.

For the Ravens, locking in Henry long-term would signal their commitment to maintaining one of the league’s most dynamic offenses. His punishing running style fits perfectly with Baltimore’s physical identity, and his production last season proved he still has plenty left in the tank.

Henry's bruising running style will obviously be factored into any potential long-term deal. However, seeing how he took care of his body and stayed healthy all season, there was enough there to suggest he could be productive in Purple and Black for a while.

With DeCosta already hinting at an extension, it feels like both sides are on the same page about continuing this partnership. After all, if Baltimore wants to finally break through and hoist the Lombardi Trophy, keeping Henry in the fold seems like a no-brainer.

The clock may have struck midnight on the Ravens’ 2024 season, but with Derrick Henry back alongside Lamar Jackson, 2025 is shaping up to be something special.
