Worst defense in the league. Star quarterback injured. Star running back has fumbling issues. Are the Baltimore Ravens just a complete mess, right now?
It sure looks like it after a 1-4 start, but that running back who's been under the microscope also offered some brutally-honest perspective after a 44-10 beatdown courtesy of the Houston Texans.
After the game, Derrick Henry said it plain and simple.
"Who's going to be the one to turn it around? It's going to be us.
"I still believe in these guys ... It's easy to be negative. Everybody can have the 'poor me,' 'why this, why that' but I'm not blaming anybody. I look at myself first and see what I need to do better."
Derrick Henry offered sobering advice for the Ravens amid abysmal start to the season
He isn't wrong. The Ravens still have a good amount of talent on that roster, whether we're talking injured players or not. The sky is not falling. The Ravens are not out of it, by any means.
There are certainly some glaring issues that need to be addressed, starting with the defensive side of the ball. Head coach John Harbaugh recently reiterated his faith in defensive coordiantor Zach Orr, but fans have grown tired of watching what's happened over the past five weeks.
But, Henry is spot-on with his take. If anyone wants to point the finger, they've got to look in the mirror first. There are far too many problems to pinpoint just one or two reasons for the state this team is in.
Funny enough, there are some betting outlets that still give Baltimore the best odds to win the AFC North. So, Ravens fans can take some solace in the fact that there are experts who still believe in this team.
"We all go in as a group and try to fix everything and turn this thing around as quickly as possible," Henry finished.
The fact of the matter is, there's plenty of time left in the season. Henry's sentiments are as realistic and blunt as he could make them. The negative? It looks ugly right now. The positive? There's time left, and this is a team with tons of veteran talent that knows what adversity feels like.
