The wait is over. After months of speculation and debate, the Baltimore Ravens have officially selected Penn State guard Olaivavega Ioane with the 14th overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.

Throughout the draft process, the Ravens have faced a crucial decision. Either take the exciting offensive weapon (tight end Kenyon Sadiq) or stick with conventional wisdom and fill the glaring need on the interior of the offensive line.

Predictably, general manager Eric DeCosta stayed the course. The Ravens used their rare opportunity to pick in the top half of the first round to take a premium talent at a key position, further solidifying their offensive line for the 2026 season.

Ravens draft Penn State Guard Olaivavega Ioane at No. 14

Ioane may not be the most electric pick in the first round of this year's draft, but he's one of the most solid prospects in the class. The Penn State product is the picture of a prototypical NFL guard. He's sturdy, strong, and has quick enough feet to hold up in either a man or zone blocking scheme.

The first 13 picks of the draft fell with all of the chaos that the Ravens would have hoped for. With surprising picks and questionable moves made ahead of them, one of the best and most steady players in the class fell to DeCosta.

While other prospects in this class have seen their draft stock fluctuate in recent months, Ioane's has remained steady. Most experts agree that he will be one of the safest picks in this year's draft. He ranked 15th on FanSided's big board, higher than any other guard.

FanSided's Mike Luciano said, "Of all the players projected by many to go in the middle of the first round, Ioane looks to be one of the most immediate bets to be an instant starter. The fact that he didn't allow a sack or quarterback hurry in 2025 speaks to his excellence from a technique and strength perspective."

Ioane will certainly slot in as an immediate starter in Baltimore, likely at left guard. The Ravens are still missing a starting center, but they'll have opportunities to find one later in the draft.

DeCosta needed a successful pick in the first round, and it looks like he got one.
