The Baltimore Ravens have built a strong roster for 2026, and it should produce a return to the playoffs. Through it all, they’ve also focused on the future.

Baltimore always has the future in their mind, as the front office’s work in the NFL Draft is usually second to none. They’ve gotten critical extensions done with stars like Kyle Hamilton and Travis Jones, as well. Still, there are other guys who need that next contract.

While most of the attention is rightfully revolving around Lamar Jackson’s looming extension talks, it sounds like Zay Flowers might be next in line. The wide receiver market has changed drastically, and Flowers is the next guy deserving of a payday. Thankfully, Eric DeCosta is ready to get that finalized.

In an interview with Cordell Woodland and Vinny Cerrato on 105.7 The Fan, DeCosta revealed a promising timeline for Flowers.

“Yeah, [we’d like to get an extension done before the start of the season],” DeCosta said. “We’ve had good conversations. Nick Matteo does a phenomenal job negotiating. Certainly a work in progress. Optimistic about it, feel like at some point it gets done. I hope it gets done.”

Baltimore Ravens making progress toward Zay Flowers extension

There have been encouraging updates surrounding Flowers’ contract situation all offseason, but extensions involving Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Drake London, and Christian Watson might be forcing Baltimore’s hand. And they definitely upped the price tag significantly for the 25-year-old.

Whatever the price is, though, Flowers is worthy of the money that’ll be coming his way. It’s fair to expect his new deal to be in a realm similar to London’s four-year, $141 million contract. At $35.25 million per year, that’s WR1 money, and despite people doubting Flowers being the No. 1 wideout, he’s proven to be just that.

If you’re still somehow not a believer that Flowers can dominate at the top of a wide receiver depth chart, then 2026 should change your mind. With weapons like Isaiah Likely and Charlie Kolar departing, and the offensive guard play improving, even more opportunities should be available for Flowers. He’s sure to take advantage of that.

Now, Flowers probably won’t set a new career-high in 2026. It’s going to take a lot to eclipse his 1,211-yard campaign from last year, and with Lamar Jackson healthy, we can expect more from the run game again. However, as long as he’s producing at that 1,100-yard-ish pace, then he should earn that respect as a top-10 receiver.

If Flowers can continue on that trajectory, his price tag is only going to get higher, too. It’s in the front office’s best interest to get the extension done as soon as possible because if they keep waiting around, Flowers is only going to pick more and more money out of Baltimore’s pockets.

Simply put, Flowers has done everything a team could want and more, so it’s time to pay the man. Fortunately, it seems like the Ravens are on that track.
