The Baltimore Ravens have some work to do along the offensive line this offseason, especially with veteran leaders Ronnie Stanley and Patrick Mekari likely heading elsewhere in free agency. While the team has promising young talent in center Tyler Linderbaum and right tackle Roger Rosengarten, there’s still a major question mark at one of the guard spots.
Enter Zack Martin. The longtime Dallas Cowboys guard is set to hit free agency and could be exactly what the Ravens need to reinforce their line. A seven-time First-Team All-Pro and future Hall of Famer, Martin has been one of the most dominant interior linemen in the NFL over the past decade. Even at 34 and coming off an injury-shortened season, he remains a force when healthy.
If Martin isn’t ready to retire just yet, Baltimore might be his best option. The Ravens are a legitimate Super Bowl contender, and Martin would bring much-needed stability and veteran leadership to an offensive line that needs reinforcements, along with some veteran leadership. It’s a potential match that makes too much sense.
Zack Martin should join the Ravens in free agency
Baltimore isn’t just a great fit for Martin—it might be the best place for him to chase that elusive ring before calling it a career. The Ravens are built to compete now, and adding a player of Martin’s caliber would only strengthen their case as an AFC contender.
The Ravens' offensive scheme, built around Lamar Jackson’s dual-threat ability and Derrick Henry’s power running, thrives when the interior line is at its best.
Martin’s presence would not only help keep Jackson upright but also pave massive lanes for Henry to bulldoze through. His experience and football IQ would be invaluable for a team that's quickly turning toward the fountain of youth. None of Linderbaum, Faalele, or Rosengarten are 26 years old yet. Martin's experience and vet-savviness would be instrumental in their developments as future offensive line cornerstones.
Baltimore doesn’t need a full rebuild on the offensive line, but they do need to find the missing piece. Ben Cleveland and Andrew Vorhees are not it, and the Ravens can’t afford to leave a glaring hole at guard while trying to contend for a championship.
If Martin is looking for a team that gives him a chance to win while allowing him to finish his career at the highest level, Baltimore is the answer. Sure, it'll be difficult to leave Dallas, but they're not winning anything anytime soon. Martin to Baltimore is a win-win.
