It didn't take long for the Ravens' new coaching staff to set a clear tone

Things are going to be a whole lot different.

It's hard not to be excited about the Baltimore Ravens' new coaching staff of Jesse Minter, Declan Doyle, and Anthony Weaver. Last year was a train wreck across the board coaching-wise, and early signs are that the new coaching staff will ensure this won't be the case again.

Recently, at offseason minicamp, Lamar Jackson praised new offensive coordinator Declan Doyle (once again) for his creativity. On top of this, Kyle Hamilton said that "There's no grey area" when asked what has stood out about Minter's defense.

"It's a different system than I'm accustomed to being in and I feel like it's gonna be a lot of explosiveness going on this year. Because of the way Dec calls plays and his creativity with his mind and how detailed he is ... it's like mind-blowing. I'm excited," Jackson said.

Both Jackson's and Hamilton's quotes highlight how much the new coaching staff is focusing on the details. Likewise, Jackson's quote clearly underscores the schematic improvements that Doyle will bring, and the same can be implied by Hamilton's quote about Minter.

The Baltimore Ravens' new coaching staff is giving fans every reason to believe things will be different this year

A lack of creative play-calling has been a problem that has held the Ravens back throughout Lamar's career, both under Todd Monken and Greg Roman. Thankfully, it's safe to say things will be wildly different this year.

Attention to detail is a key theme of the Ravens new coaching staff, which again is something the Ravens have struggled with (often committing penalties and generally looking disconnected).

Jackson saying it's mind-blowing how detailed and creative Doyle is tells you everything you need to know about both him and the old staff.

Likewise, Hamilton's quote is certainly a major credit to Minter's detailed approach. However, much like Lamar's quote, it's hard not to see it as a slight against the Ravens' old coaching staff. Minter's new look defense should be a massive shift after a lackluster defensive season last year.

There should be no "grey area" with an NFL team. The expectations and schematic details should be crystal clear. Unfortunately, given Hamilton's quote and the Ravens' general lack of discipline last year, it's fair to believe this wasn't the case.

Regardless, the Ravens' new staff setting the tone of high discipline and their detail-oriented approach from the get-go is a massive positive sign.

Of course, games are won during the season, but habits are built during the offseason, and the Ravens staff is helping the team build better habits, all while transforming their system. Once the season gets started, these efforts will pay off.

The Ravens are trying to make a Super Bowl leap. They've long had the talent to do so, but they've lacked the discipline and scheme creativity (on both ends of the field). All early signs point to the Ravens' new coaching staff changing these problems in a big way, and this could ultimately be what's needed to finally spark a Super Bowl run.

Ultimately, the more quotes and buzz that come out about this coaching staff, it's hard not to be bullish on what the Ravens can accomplish this year.
