John Harbaugh could do the Ravens one more favor with latest trade idea

The Baltimore Ravens and John Harbaugh have both started new eras, but it could make sense for both sides to reconnect on a business deal.

Former Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh is full steam ahead as the new coach of the New York Giants, and Baltimore has moved on with Jesse Minter. While neither of the two are looking back — aside from Harbaugh bringing every former Raven he can to New York — it might make sense for the two sides to call each other to talk business.

NFL reporter Ralph Vacchiano, in a recent FOX Sports piece, named one player each AFC team should trade for during the 2026 Draft. For Baltimore, the reporter argued that the franchise should send the team’s 2026 third-round pick (No. 80) and a 2027 conditional fifth-round pick to New York for edge defender Kayvon Thibodeaux.

FOX Sports says Baltimore Ravens should trade for Giants’ defender Kayvon Thibodeaux

Thibodeaux is a player who has been a mainstay in trade rumors because he’s entering the final year of his rookie contract, and New York is loaded at the edge position. Vacchiano explained that reality and also laid out why the young defender makes sense for Baltimore.

"Jesse Minter is taking over a team ready for a Super Bowl run, but still too dangerously thin on the edge. The Ravens could fix that by adding Thibodeaux, who is an expensive luxury for the Giants. With Brian Burns and Abdul Carter there, they’re unlikely to re-sign Thibodeaux after this season, so they could be willing to deal him now, especially if they could get a third-round pick, which the Giants don’t currently have."

In addition to these points, Harbaugh was recently asked about Thibodeaux‘s future with the team, and he explained that he’s currently thinking about what the defender can contribute to the Giants, but insisted that every player is tradeable. That probably means the head coach is on board with moving Thibodeaux for a package that makes sense.

The question then becomes, what does that package look like? The third and fifth that Vacchiano proposed should get the job done since Thibodeaux is likely to leave in free agency next offseason. But, if the Giants don’t think that’s enough, Vacchiano floated the possibility of also including Marlon Humphrey in the deal, since New York needs a stronger secondary.

The Ravens will have to ask themselves if this trade makes sense, but it’s worth considering since adding a talented young edge defender is exactly what the team needs.
