Former Baltimore Ravens kicker Justin Tucker may have a new NFL opportunity. On Wednesday, Tucker worked out with the New York Jets, alongside fellow kickers Michael Badgley and Josh Karty.

Tucker spent 2025 as a free agent. The Ravens released him following an abysmal 2024 campaign, and he remained unsigned amid multiple off-the-field allegations. He was suspended by the league for 10 weeks for violating the personal conduct policy, and served the suspension while a free agent.
For Ravens fans, this may be worth monitoring. Not because it’s Tucker—the 36-year-old was unreliable over his last two seasons, and his allegations add a distracting layer. The reason? The Jets already have two kickers.
They signed Blake Grupe to their active roster and brought back Jason Sanders to their practice squad. If Tucker, Badgley, or Karty were signed, that may push either Grupe or Sanders out of the picture. And Baltimore may find themselves in need of one of those two. Their kicking woes have been clear as day.
Baltimore Ravens may want to monitor New York Jets’ kicking situation
The Ravens have two kickers, as well. The issue is, both have endured immense struggles in the pros. Tyler Loop has had significant trouble from distance, and Jake Moody, who was recently signed to the practice squad, hasn’t been able to make kicks with much consistency.
Again, it’s not even worth contemplating a Justin Tucker return. That ship has sailed. He wouldn’t answer any questions whatsoever.
If Blake Grupe or Jason Sanders met the axe as a result of New York’s workouts, though, Baltimore could have something. Both Grupe and Sanders have shown promise.
Grupe is still trying to find his footing. Across his three-year career, he has gone 86-for-105 on field goal attempts. An 81.9% clip isn’t blowing anyone away.
What Grupe does have going for him is his cannon of a leg. He’s made 19 of 27 tries from 50+ yards away throughout his career, including a 60-yard bomb. That’s something the Ravens would love to have from a kicker.
And as a sign of improvement, Grupe was a perfect 11-for-11 in five games with the Indianapolis Colts last year.
As for Sanders, he’s returning from a hip injury that kept him out for the entire 2025 campaign. But in case anyone forgot, he’s a trusted kicker to have in your locker room.
The last time Sanders was on the field in 2024, he pushed 37 of his 41 field goal attempts inside the uprights. That included a tremendous 12-for-14 rate from 50+. A hip injury can understandably draw major question marks about a kicker's future, but the veteran has shown he's one of the better kickers in the NFL when healthy.
Of course, Grupe and Sanders are still with the New York Jets. However, their recent movement on the kicker market has made it clear they’re not completely satisfied with that position. If they eventually move on from Grupe or Sanders, the Ravens should be all over that. Because right now, it doesn’t look like Loop or Moody will cut it.
