Justin Tucker ruining Tylan Wallace's electric TD proves Ravens have growing kicker problem
The Baltimore Ravens looked to be on their way to tying things up 21 all after Tylan Wallace scooted 84 yards down the field to give the Ravens their third touchdown of the night. All they had to do was wait for an extra point attempt from the previously automatic Justin Tucker and the game would be tied.
Well, unfortunately, Tucker missed the extra point and the Ravens then were still trailing in the game. The moment might not completely have ruined Wallace's electric touchdown but it certainly brought more questions to light if Tucker is starting to lose his shine.
Tucker currently has the lowest field goal percentage of his career, sitting at 78.9% and has missed four field goals on the year. He was previously perfect on extra points, which makes the miss even more frustrating. Tucker missed only one extra point in each of the last two years so hopefully, this is his one miss for the year.
Should Ravens fans be concerned about Justin Tucker?
Early in the season, Tucker felt off. He was missing kicks he'd normally crush and just when he started to look like his old self again, he badly missed a much-needed extra point. This isn't the same Tucker that Ravens fans have been used to watching for the last decade plus. He's definitely starting to slow down.
Fortunately, the Ravens took the lead on their next offensive drive with a beautiful touchdown pass from Lamar Jackson to Mark Andrews. The Ravens attempted the two-point conversion and succeeded so the Tucker missed extra point won't end up being a major talking point as a result (instead people will be talking about the defense completely collapsing there).
Still, it's not hard to notice that he hasn't been quite the same in 2024. He'll turn 35 years old in a few weeks but kickers can play until they're in their 40s since they don't take many hits. Hopefully, Tucker is in a rut and can find his old automatic self because it'd be hard having to move past the Tucker era and finding a new kicker but if it needs to happen, the front office shouldn't hesitate to do so.
