Lamar Jackson is ready to get back after it. The Baltimore Ravens received the best news possible on Monday, as after a week of speculation regarding his attendance for offseason voluntary workouts, Jackson was back at the facility.
At the NFL league meeting last week, head coach Jesse Minter didn’t confirm whether or not Jackson would be there for the workout program. And after having spotty attendance over the last two years, it was the perfect storm for plenty of uncertainty. However, Jackson is already getting to work with the new coaching staff.
While they are voluntary, Jackson needed to show up early to get acclimated to the new era. His statement-making arrival and eagerness to work are evidence that Baltimore made the right move in firing John Harbaugh and hiring Jesse Minter.
Baltimore Ravens’ new coaching regime is already paying dividends with the arrival of Lamar Jackson
Since the initial decision to fire Harbaugh, the Ravens have been pressing all the right buttons. The hiring of Minter brought excitement after two years of dominance on defense with the Los Angeles Chargers, and additional coordinator hires in Declan Doyle and Anthony Weaver brought a wave of youthful energy that was desperately needed.
Still, it was bold to fire a successful head coach with 18 years of experience, 12 playoff berths, and one Super Bowl win. However, this was partially a move to satisfy Lamar Jackson. The organization has made it clear that they are looking to get the most out of the two-time MVP in 2026 and finally reach the Super Bowl. Hiring Minter was the perfect move, and it’s now evident that Jackson is fully on board.
It’s thrilling to see Jackson appearing at the early stages of the workout program. Of course, it’s important for him to lead by example as a superstar quarterback, but there will obviously be a lot of changes with how things are done. Despite Minter’s experience under Harbaugh in Charm City, he’s pairing that old way of playing like a Raven with new philosophies.
Additionally, the offense will be brand new under Doyle. He’s one of the best up-and-coming coaches in the NFL, and he’ll be implementing teachings from Sean Payton and Ben Johnson in the Lamar Jackson-led offense. It’ll be exciting to see what he can come up with, and with Jackson getting involved quickly, they can get to the drawing board as soon as possible.
Everything was already telling fans that Minter was setting the Ravens up for success in 2026. Jackson’s decision to be there for Phase 1 of the team’s workout program is a further indication that everyone is on board. The coaching calls were bold, but they were the right decisions.
