The Baltimore Ravens are in the middle of a coaching search, and they are considered an elite opening, because the team has Lamar Jackson. However, some fans and analysts have spent the early part of the offseason discussing hypothetical trades that would end Jackson’s time in Baltimore. On Thursday, the star quarterback accidentally fueled that talk, sending Ravens fans into a panic.
A social media user shared a picture of her son in a Lamar Jackson jersey, holding a Las Vegas Raiders football, and asked if the picture was predicting a future move of Jackson to the Raiders. The Ravens quarterback shared the post to his feed, and Baltimore fans’ stomachs dropped. Was this Jackson’s way of saying he wanted to go to Vegas?
Turns out, the veteran quarterback just saw a picture of a kid in his jersey and reposted it. He removed his repost and clarified that in a reply, explaining that he didn’t read the caption. Jackson was able to laugh the entire situation off, as he briefly put out the fire he accidentally started.
Lamar Jackson fuels trade rumors with social media mistake
This is why it’s important to read an entire post before interacting with it; you could end up endorsing something that you don’t want to. Nevertheless, Jackson cleared up things on his end, but that probably won’t stop his name from appearing in hypothetical trades — at least until the NFL Draft.
The Raiders are the other team in the equation, with the football world asking if Las Vegas would send the no. 1 pick in the 2026 Draft to the Ravens for Lamar Jackson. The answer is likely no — for the Raiders and Baltimore. Las Vegas will stay put at the top of the draft and take Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza, and Lamar Jackson will remain as the franchise quarterback in Baltimore.
The Ravens still have to find Jackson a new coaching staff, and it’s a hire the franchise must absolutely hit out the park. While Baltimore has a few holes along it’s roster, the team is loaded with talent, and shouldn’t be missing the playoffs. As long as Lamar Jackson remains under center, and the Ravens find a competent coach, Ravens fans should be focused on the postseason this time next year, and not social media.
