The Baltimore Ravens have turned over a new leaf with Jesse Minter as the head coach. That means everyone on the roster has to prove themselves, as Minter will use the 2026 campaign as a way to see who will be a part of the future.

Cornerback Marlon Humphrey has been in Baltimore for the last nine years, but his best days could be behind him. He's coming off the worst year of his career and will be entering the final year of his deal. If he doesn't put his best foot forward, he could be out of town sooner rather than later.

Marlon Humphrey has plenty at stake with Baltimore Ravens heading into 2026

Last season, Humphrey played in 15 games. In those appearances, he had 68 total tackles, 13 pass breakups, and four interceptions, but he had issues in coverage. According to Pro Football Focus, he posted a 43.8 coverage grade (112th among 114 graded CBs).

As the primary defender, he allowed the most receiving yards among cornerbacks (909) along with 67 catches and three touchdowns. Humphrey also allowed 13.6 yards per reception. Teams had plenty of success targeting Humphrey, and they will likely look in his direction again in 2026.

The Alabama product has one more year left on his contract at $26.2 million, which isn't a low number at all. The Ravens backloaded his deal, and that mark is the highest of any year of his deal. To solidify his place for 2027 and potentially beyond, he will need to rebound following the worst year of his career.

The Ravens are chasing a Super Bowl title, and every year they have Lamar Jackson under center, they need to capitalize. That's why every other starter on the team will need to prove they are worth keeping around.

Having quality cornerbacks is a must in today's NFL. Teams usually have multiple quality receivers, so if you don't have confidence in your cornerbacks, it could spell bad news. The Ravens got a taste of that in 2025 with Humphrey and know they can't deal with it again.

Cornerback is one of the most important positions in the NFL, and Humphrey has work to do. He knows that, and so does the team. If he fails to bounce back, there's a good chance this could be his final season in Baltimore.

Time will tell how he looks on the field, but there's no hiding the importance. The Ravens have seen Humphrey play at an elite level, yet we have to see if he can regain that form.
