The NFL world has moved on from the called off trade between the Baltimore Ravens and the Las Vegas Raiders, but all parties involved are still dealing with the aftermath. That includes Maxx Crosby, the elite player at the center of the nixed deal. While the star defender is now committed to move forward with the Raiders, he recently opened up on his podcast, The Rush, about how things unfolded from his point of view.
Crosby told the story from before the trade was even agreed to and also detailed his entire day with the Ravens, and one part of his story has fans, once again, questioning Baltimore’s true intentions. The veteran defender explained that he didn’t see Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta or Baltimore’s new head coach Jesse Minter for the first five hours of his visit. He finally met with the two near the end of the day, but Crosby said the vibe was off.
Still, the defender didn’t read too much into it, acknowledging that it was his first time meeting them, and that could’ve just been their personalities. However, DeCosta then broke the news to Crosby that there was concern about his knee. Still, at that time, Baltimore was in the process of getting more opinions.
Maxx Crosby reveals he didn’t meet Eric DeCosta and Jesse Minter until the end of his visit with Ravens
Fans and media members, like Crosby, found it weird that he didn’t see Baltimore’s GM or coach until the end of the day. While he obviously had to go through a lot of other processes if the trade was going to be finalized, moves of that magnitude typically come with franchise leaders meeting a star player at the door and welcoming them into the building.
That not happening only fuels the believe that Baltimore was moving shady. Whether it’s true or not, and no matter how much DeCosta denies it, that’s a reputation the franchise has to live with, and hopefully overcome.
As for Crosby, he admitted that he was scared after getting the news from DeCosta, because he started to think about the worst possible outcomes of something being wrong with his knee. However, after speaking with his surgeon, who explained to him that his imaging was nothing unusual for a player two months removed from surgery, the defender calmed down. He eventually made his way back to Vegas, where he’s focused on moving on with the Raiders, and the Ravens will move forward without him.
