Mike Tomlin masterfully used Patrick Queen to troll the Ravens
The Baltimore Ravens and Pittsburgh Steelers will meet up for the first time in the 2024 season with first place in the AFC North on the line. The Ravens are coming off a tight Thursday night win over the Cincinnati Bengals while the Steelers also beat their opponent, the Commanders, by one point.
The Ravens/Steelers rivalry is one of the best in the NFL (if not THE best rivalry) and with both teams being really good this year, it makes the rivalry even more fun. These two teams hate each other and one player who used to play for the Ravens will now be on the other team and playing for the enemy.
That player is Patrick Queen, who Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin is using against the Ravens in a big way. Tomlin has chosen Queen as one of the Steelers representatives for the coin toss before the game, sending a strong message to Queen's former team.
Former Ravens linebacker Patrick Queen will be present for coin toss vs old team
The Ravens spent their first-round pick on Queen in the 2020 NFL Draft. For the most part, Queen didn't live up to his first-round hype and the Ravens were okay with letting him walk in free agency following the end of his rookie contract.
It's been reported throughout the week that Patrick Queen took not getting a new contract personally and is motivated for his match-up against his new team. This is normally the case for anyone who doesn't get a second contract with their original team but Queen then took it a step further by signing with the Ravens' biggest rival, which clearly wasn't a coincidence.
While the Ravens/Steelers rivalry has always been filled with hatred, this is the first time the match-up has had massive indications in a few years. First place is on the line in the division and Tomlin is doing what he can to try and get into the Ravens' heads before the game even takes place.
Let's hope that the Ravens continue their winning ways and can get a stranglehold on first place in the division by taking down Patrick Queen and his new team.
