The Baltimore Ravens' decision not to re-sign Ar'Darius Washington this offseason was a tough pill for fans to swallow. Sure, Washington missed the entirety of the 2025 season after tearing his Achilles last spring but just one year prior, he stepped into a starting role and flourished in the secondary.
To the surprise of absolutely no one, Washington followed former Ravens head coach John Harbaugh to his new team, the New York Giants. Also to the surprise of no one, Washington is already thriving with his new team.
Jake Elman of GMEN HQ, FanSided's NY Giants site, pointed out just how sneaky good of a pickup Washington could be for New York.
"Harbaugh and defensive coordinator Dennard Wilson clearly feel that the 26-year-old Washington still has untapped potential," Elman wrote. "Washington played well when given a starting spot in 2024... Harbaugh and Wilson would not have brought him to New York if they didn’t believe in his abilities when healthy. It was a shrewd move by both Harbaugh and Joe Schoen..."
Ar'Darius Washington is giving New York Giants fans a familiar Baltimore Ravens feeling
Ravens fans know what Washington is capable of so it's not a shock to hear that Giants fans are already taking note of him and expecting him to carve out a bigger role for himself. Moving on wasn't too surprising given his injury history -- he played in just 29 games over a five-year stint in Baltimore -- but still, fans liked the guy and wanted to see him succeed with the team that had developed him to this point.
If there were a meme to describe this moment, it'd be the one of Wolverine laying on the bed looking at a picture. Wolverine would be Ravens fans and the picture would be of Ar'Darius Washington, in case you were wondering. It sums up the situation well, as Ravens fans miss Washington and won't be stunned at all when he becomes a bigger name for the G-Men.
But, all good things must come to an end and the Ar'Darius Washington era did just that this offseason. Harbaugh knows what the guy is capable of and Ravens fans will be rooting for him to succeed, even if it'll hurt seeing him succeed in a different uniform.
