In just two games since returning from his neck injury, Nnamdi Madubuike is already becoming the force the Baltimore Ravens need. The middle of their defensive line has taken strides over the past couple of weeks, and it’s largely thanks to the Madubuike X-factor.
The Ravens made it back-to-back wins with their Week 4 victory over the Tennessee Titans, and Madubuike was a big winner. He has yet to notch his first sack of the season, but he finished Sunday’s game with two QB hits and some really impressive efforts against Tennessee’s rushing attack.
After taking basically a year off from football while injured, Madubuike’s progress is an awesome sight. Baltimore’s defensive front lacked a consistent, game-changing interior presence early in the season. Now, they have that, and Madubuike’s making everyone better.
Baltimore Ravens are receiving a much-needed jolt from Nnamdi Madubuike
It was fair to wonder if Nnamdi Madubuike would be a bit slow coming back into action for the first time since Week 2 of the 2025 campaign. However, he’s been anything but slow. He’s been firing on all cylinders from the get-go.
Through two games, Pro Football Focus has given Madubuike a 90.2 overall grade, the best among defensive linemen. His 2026 debut was quieter with only two pressures, but Week 4 saw him return to that dominant form on passing downs. PFF had him with five pressures in that battle.
NFL Next Gen Stats gave him six pressures, and it was clear that Madubuike’s movement, twists, turns, athleticism, and physicality are coming back to life. He was a problem all day long for Titans quarterback Cam Ward.

It wasn’t just as a pass rusher either. Sure, that’s Madubuike’s calling card, but his ability against the run is quickly starting to click. His run defense grade sits at a 75.1, per PFF.
On Sunday, his most notable highlight came on a 4th-and-goal play from the two-yard line. The 28-year-old had a huge tackle on Titans running back Tony Pollard that gave Baltimore the ball, flipped the momentum, and eventually contributed to seven points the other way.
Madubuike is simply a freak of nature. He’s the kind of player who can flip the script of the game with just a few plays, and this isn’t even his final form.
And with Madubuike, Travis Jones, and Calais Campbell all getting back into the swing of things, the Ravens’ interior defensive line has stabilized, and they’re showing signs of the powerful unit everyone in Baltimore knows it can be.
Minter talked a little bit about that in his press conference on Monday.
“I think [the defensive line] is improving,” Minter said. “Going back to OTAs, going back to training camp, those guys missed a lot of time … When you’re working your way back into the real violent, physical reps, I think they’ve gotten better and better. I thought we played the run up front a lot better, and again, I think Nnamdi brings an element in pass rush that we’re gonna be able to take advantage of.”
Madubuike’s impact truly can’t be overstated. He’s already stuffing the stat sheet and making opposing offenses uncomfortable, but he also draws a swarm of attention. As Madubuike continues to demand that kind of respect, expect the rest of the defensive line to take off.
