Carson Vinson may have been one of the lesser-known names to come out of the Baltimore Ravens’ 2025 draft class, but he’s quickly making a strong early impression—on and off the field.
Drafted in the fifth round out of Alabama A&M, the 6-foot-7, 321-pound offensive tackle is viewed as a developmental piece with rare physical tools. He dominated his level of competition, impressed at the Senior Bowl, and fits the Ravens’ mold as a long-term project they can coach up into a contributor.
But it’s not just Vinson’s tape or size that has fans paying attention—it’s what he just said about one of his new teammates.
Carson Vinson heaps massive praise on Mike Green
During his introductory press conference, Vinson was asked about fellow rookie Mike Green, Baltimore’s second-round pick out of Marshall—selected 59th overall in the second round. The former HBCU standout didn’t hesitate:
“Man, that dude’s a dog,” Vinson said. “We didn’t get to match up at the Senior Bowl, but I saw clips now, especially the viral one that everybody was talking about. That man, he’s an animal, he’s a dog, and he’s going to help our organization. We’re going to win the Super Bowl.”
That’s the kind of response that lights a fire under a fanbase—and it’s not just lip service. Vinson is referring to the now-viral Senior Bowl clip of Green bulldozing Oregon tackle Josh Conerly Jr., a moment that perfectly captured why so many draft analysts viewed Green as a first-round talent (it's worth the watch).
Green led the nation in sacks last season with 17 and racked up 22.5 tackles for loss and 51 quarterback pressures. Despite early-career off-field issues that likely caused his slide to pick No. 59, the Ravens saw the on-field dominance and pounced.
Now, Green joins a rotation that includes Odafe Oweh, David Ojabo, Kyle Van Noy, and Adisa Isaac—and there’s already buzz that he could emerge as the team’s top edge rusher before long.
If Green can become a consistent force off the edge, it changes the ceiling of this entire defense. The Ravens already boast elite talent in every level of the defense, but adding a true closer up front is what separates playoff teams from Super Bowl teams (just ask the Eagles). That’s what made Vinson’s prediction feel less like a hot take and more like an actual possibility.
Vinson might be a Day 3 pick looking to earn a roster spot, but his words might just carry more weight than he can literally throw. He knows what high-level talent looks like—and he’s not afraid to call his shot. If he’s right about Green, Ravens fans won’t forget who said it first.
