The 2026 NFL Draft was a wild one, and for the Baltimore Ravens, there were a lot of roster changes. They filled a ton of holes with their 11 selections, then followed that up with an intriguing undrafted rookie class. It’s safe to say their roster got a bit of a facelift.

They likely aren’t done either. The Ravens should look to make moves on the free agent and trade market. They may also watch their AFC North rivals do the same. Among those could include the Pittsburgh Steelers.

However, there’s one trade that the Steelers could make that would actually benefit the Ravens. It’d eliminate a huge thorn in Baltimore’s side: DK Metcalf. According to NFL Spin Zone’s Lou Scataglia, Metcalf is one of the biggest remaining trade candidates. Scataglia wrote:

“What's really interesting about DK Metcalf and the Pittsburgh Steelers is that, despite Metcalf being on a major contract, he has no more guaranteed dollars left on the deal. The Steelers swung a trade for Michael Pittman Jr. this offseason and took Germie Bernard in the NFL Draft.”

“If a wide receiver-needy team comes calling, the Steelers might have to pull the trigger, especially if Aaron Rodgers does not return, as their chances of success in 2026 would proceed to go down the drain.”

Baltimore Ravens could luck into major Pittsburgh Steelers trade shakeup

The Steelers traded for DK Metcalf last offseason, in a deal that sent a 2025 second-round pick and seventh-round pick to the Seattle Seahawks. It didn’t take long for Metcalf to become a problem for Baltimore’s secondary.

Sure, he only played in one game against the Ravens last year due to a two-week suspension late in the year, but Metcalf carved them up in that lone matchup. In a Week 14 loss to Pittsburgh, Baltimore allowed Metcalf to go for an impressive seven receptions for 148 yards. That was all done alongside a lackluster supporting receiver core. In 2026, things could get much worse.

The Steelers traded for Michael Pittman Jr. in March and drafted Germie Bernard in the second round of the 2026 NFL Draft. That looks like a very dangerous trio. However, in the same way that could help Metcalf become an even bigger problem for opposing secondaries, their offseason moves could actually be a catalyst that leads to Metcalf heading out of the Steel City.

Metcalf’s suspension late in the 2025 season voided his salary guarantee for 2026. There are questions about whether he’ll play out the rest of the deal, and if he doesn’t, he could soon demand a new contract. After drafting Bernard with a high pick, there may be reason to believe that the Steelers don’t want to play ball on the contract front. A trade could be on the table as Scataglia suggests.

If Metcalf does get traded, that’d be a huge win for the Ravens. Even with their defensive improvements and new head coach Jesse Minter calling the plays now, Metcalf is one of the best receivers in the league, and he’s simply going to produce. If he departs from the AFC North, Baltimore, along with the Cincinnati Bengals and Cleveland Browns, would walk away as major winners.
