8. Wide Receiver - Dontay Demus

The first "surprising" or at least borderline-impactful cut made by the Baltimore Ravens on Monday hours before deadline day involved hometown receiver Dontay Demus, whose release was first reported by Jeff Zrebiec on Aug. 28.

Demus went undrafted coming out of Maryland and appeared in all three preseason games played by the Ravens this summer. The 6-foot-3 wideout hauled in three receptions for 97 yards on six targets, including a supernatural grab against the Tampa Bay Bucs last Saturday in Baltimore's preseason finale.

The UDFA suffered a serious knee injury two years ago and although he's now recovered there is a belief that he's still having some issues or at least that his game and ceiling got a bit limited because of it.

Odds are Baltimore resign him to the practice squad following a preseason in which Demus logged the second-most snaps in speacial-team plays among Ravens' wideouts only trailing Tarik Black.
