How different will this team look next year?
It almost feels weird to be de-briefing the Ravens' season already. This was a team that had historically good stats this year, and looked far-and-away like the NFL's best and deepest group. Their road to the Super Bowl – through an inexperienced Texans team and an unusually-pedestrian Chiefs squad, both at home – looked manageable, especially with QB Lamar Jackson, this year's presumptive MVP, playing some of the best football of his career. But, like so many teams before them, the Ravens found out first hand what happens when you give Patrick Mahomes some extra motivation.
