2. Is Ben Cleveland completely out on the battle for the starting left-guard role?

It's funny because right before Monday's practice Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic released his latest "Stock Up, Stock Down" weekly report... and the first name he listed in the latter column was that of Offensive Guard Ben Cleveland.

"I promise we’re not picking on Cleveland, who was also on this list last week," Zrebiec started. But that statement, simply put, shouldn't be taken as a hit or a knock on Cleveland or just empty hatred toward the big man. Cleveland is, as harsh as it might sound, completely out of the starting LG picture right now.

As expected, John Harbaugh decided to start the week with John Simpson as the starting LG on the offensive line. That move follows previous comments made by the coach in which he mentioned that following rookie Sala Aumavae-Laulu's starting through the first few practices he would then make way for Simpson.

That's precisely what happened, as Simpson took first-team reps on Monday according to Ryan Mink of BaltimoreRavens.com. The reporter also wrote in his latest piece that the Ravens "want to give the veteran his chance to prove himself," adding that the competition for the starting LG role "remains open."

Ben Cleveland's name is nowhere to be found in Mink's report, nor has Harbaugh mentioned him of late, nor anything.

As Zrebiec pointed out in his stock column, last week "both Harbaugh and OC Todd Monken have spoken about the left guard competition and failed to mention Cleveland as being in the mix."

Not saying this thing is completely over and that Cleveland has no chance of snatching that starting LG role (who know, maybe the coaches are just preserving his health through camp) but it's definitely not looking good for the veteran these days.
