3 teams who could steal Justin Madubuike away from Ravens in free agency
By Mike Luciano
1. Houston Texans
The Texans were way ahead of schedule in their rebuild, as they matched the Ravens blow-for-blow in the first half of their postseason matchup despite a rookie quarterback and coach in CJ Stroud and DeMeco Ryans, respectively. Houston's success came on the back of their offensive achievements rather than Ryans' defense.
Will Anderson was a worthy Rookie of the Year, but veterans like Sheldon Rankins and Maliek Collins (who took a step forward last season, granted) hardly scream "long-term starters" at the DT spot. Houston can pay Madubuike well, as only five teams in the league have more cap space this offseason.
The Texans may lure Justin Madubuike from the Baltimore Ravens
Madubuike was born in Dallas, went to high school in McKinney, and attended Texas A&M in College Station. Going back to Texas, especially for a team with their eyes set on multiple postseason appearances after their shot in the arm last year, could be a very appealing situation for Madubuike.
Ryans' style of defense needs a disruptive interior rusher, like Steve Wilks had in San Francisco with Javon Hargrave or Robert Saleh has with Quinnen Williams. Knowing that he could make an AFC contender much stronger, Baltimore should be more motivated than ever to make sure he doesn't leave Maryland this offseason.
