5 Ravens moves: lost Safety, cut Wide Receiver, signed 2 Cornerbacks, added Tight End

It was quite a busy Tuesday for the Ravens even though they didn't practice nor spoke to the media. It was all done in the shadows, with information popping up slowly but surely!

3. Baltimore Ravens release WR Dontay Demus Jr.

In a mildly surprising move, the Ravens released local product and former U of Maryland wide receiver Dontay Demus Jr. from their practice squad on Tuesday.

It's not that Baltimore's wideout room is filled to the brim these days after losing Tylan Wallace (now on IR), as well as Odell Beckham and Rashod Bateman to injuries lately, so we'll see if this move doesn't end firing back a bit.

Demus went undrafted coming out of Maryland and appeared in all three preseason games played by the Ravens this summer. The 6-foot-3 wideout hauled in three receptions for 97 yards on six targets.

The youngster didn't make the 53-man roster but was later signed to the practice squad, where he's stayed until now. Demus was simply a depth casualty on Tuesday, as the franchise had to open a spot to complete the two transactions that followed this announcement and helped explain the cut.

The Ravens planned to sign three players on Tuesday (Swillings, DeAndre Houston-Carson, and Eric Tomlinson) but only had two spots available in the practice squad following Kyle Van Noy and Duron Harmon's respective transactions.

KVN was signed to the 53-man roster for the season before Week 4 and Harmon left the Ravens by signing a deal with the Bears. Thus, the Demus cut.
