6 Bold Predictions About 2023 Ravens Draft Picks
By Justin Long
Trenton Simpson: 3 forced fumbles and 3 sacks
Simpson was drafted in the 3rd round of the 2023 draft as a linebacker with huge upside. Simpson isn't the most polished player at the moment, but his athletic profile and versatility could help him work his way onto the field for the Ravens this season.
Simpson certainly has a big hill to climb to reach 3 forced fumbles and 3 sacks due to the Ravens' current linebacker situation. Roquan Smith and Patrick Queen represent one of the best inside linebacker duos in the NFL, so Simpson will have to carve out a role of his own in his rookie year.
I think the area where Simpson could make the biggest impact will be in clear passing downs.
Similarly to Patrick Queen, Simpson has top-end speed that could be extremely useful when pursuing the quarterback.
If the Ravens can dial up some well-timed blitzes, Simpson could be a major weapon for the Ravens that racks up some big plays. It'll be up to defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald to unlock Simpson's skill set early on in his career.
