The Baltimore Ravens released Trayvon Mullen, citing a failure to disclose a physical condition. Mullen was not practicing, and he was initially on the NFI list. Mullen had his contract guaranteed, and the Ravens may have seen the writing on the wall and decided to let him go now. Now, they will be able to clear their $1M cap hit.

The news is not good, and no one is ever happy when this happens, but Mullen was in a competition at cornerback, and the competition will go on. For some of the competitors, this is just one name down. Rock Ya-Sin still holds the second cornerback spot pretty firmly. However, the depth on the outside will bring plenty of questions.

Kyu Blu Kelly is one player who is going to benefit from the loss of Mullen. Kelly does not have slot experience and would need to win a backup spot on the outside. He also has little special teams work and is a day three rookie. A target would have been on his back.

Jalyn Armour Davis is another player who benefits from the release of Trayvon Mullen. Armour-Davis was on the roster bubble after a disaster rookie season. Still, JAD was pegged as raw coming out, and that is why he fell to the fourth round. So, the Ravens should want to be patient with him, but at the same time, they did not have time for his growing pains last year. He was benched and banged up, and the Ravens kept moving without him. He was going to have to fight for his roster life, but with Mullen out of the way, it at least gets cleaner for him to be in the top five or six cornerbacks.

Lastly, Daryl Worley has to be feeling better about his standing on the depth chart after the loss of Mullen. Worley stuck around the roster last year and came up late in the season for the week 18 game against the Bengals. He flashed enough, and the team made sure to keep him, so he is definitely in the competition.

Still, with draft equity and more team-friendly deals coming from JAD and KBK, you could see the Ravens choosing them over Worley. With Mullen and his guaranteed salary in the mix, politics were killing Worley. This helps Worley focus more on just playing his game.

Still, there are five cornerbacks right there, and then we have Pepe Williams, Arthur Maulet, and Ar'Darius Washington. If one or two of those cornerbacks make the team, somebody we listed is still getting cut. They feel safer without Mullen, the competition is still on.
