If you had told me that the Baltimore Ravens would leave the 2023 NFL draft with a wide receiver, linebacker, defensive lineman, and cornerback it would have made sense. However, the order may have been what threw off Ravens fans. Still, the Baltimore Ravens did finally address cornerback when they added Kyu Blu Kelly from Stanford.

Baltimore Ravens draft Stanford CB Kyu Blu Kelly

Kyu Blu Kelly is a player we profiled for the Baltimore Ravens and thought that he may be a fit for the team in the third round. However, he fell to them in round five. That is because he is still raw with his instincts, and while he has a solid athletic skill set, it has not come together for consistent play yet.

Still, he has long arms and speed, and he is comfortable playing in both zone and man coverage. The fit makes plenty of sense. More than that, the team had to walk away from the draft with a cornerback.

It is fair to note that wide receiver, edge rusher, and linebacker were needs to be addressed. However, the cornerback room is one of the thinnest on the team right now. When you look at the room, there is obviously Marlon Humphrey.

However, outside of that, there are questions. They signed Trayvon Mullen, and Brandon Stephens moved outside last season. They also have Jalyn Armour-Davis, who they drafted last season. Still, none of those names are proven and they were going to have to see which cornerback could rise to the top.

Now, they can Kyu Blu Kelly into the mix. He is a fifth-round pick but he is going to get to come in and compete to start with all of these other names because there is nothing that these guys have to automatically set them apart over Kelly.

It will be interesting to see how Kelly can stack up in this Baltimore Ravens depth chart. Also, because the Ravens waited until round five, does that make adding a veteran more likely? Or, do they view Kelly as a third-round talent who fell to the fifth round, and gave them a chance to take the best player?
