If you have been following the Baltimore Ravens this offseason, you have probably read something positive about Nelson Agholor. From OTAs through minicamps, every day is highlighted by Nelson Agholor making a deep play or having a solid connection with Lamar Jackson. While that is great for Agholor to develop that connection early, the reality is that this may be an excellent sign for Rashod Bateman.

When you think about it, the Ravens starting three wide receivers have been getting the work with Lamar Jackson. Zay Flowers, and Odell Beckham are both healthy and both working Jackson, but Agholor seems to be getting the most work.

That is because they are running the offense as if Bateman will be healthy. They do not just move up Flowers or Beckham into the role of Bateman because they will be playing their specific roles that compliment him.

So, when Bateman gets healthy it will be a one-for-one swap with him in for Agholor, and the other pieces are already in place. Everytime Agholor had a deep target or was the key to the specific play the thought is that this will be Bateman.

This makes sense when you go back to Lamar Jackson and his comments about Bateman this offseason. The talk was about Beckham and Flowers, but Jackson was sure to say that Bateman was still the number one wide out on his radar.

Beckham is aging, and Flowers is a rookie, meanwhile it is Rashod Bateman in year three ready to breakout. Of course, health is the key, and it would be better to say that Bateman was the star of the show, and not Agholor in the role of Bateman.

Still, the reports are that holding Bateman out of this minicamp was a precautionary reason, if anything, and Bateman should be ready for training camp. That is another reason why the team did not move Beckham or Flowers out of place. They will be in their roles for training camp, and Bateman will be projected to lead the way as the number one wideout when things get rolling in a few weeks.
