Baltimore Ravens LB Patrick Queen is on this impressive historic list
For the most part, Baltimore Ravens fans will say that Patrick Queen has not had a career worthy of a first-round selection. It also appears the team will be moving on from him after this season. However, if there are a few things going in his favor, it is his age and his production.
Baltimore Ravens LB Patrick Queen is on this impressive historic list
Patrick Queen played the 2022 season at age 23. He entered the NFL at a younger age than most, and this is part of the reason why he was drafted high because the thought is that his better days were not close to what we saw in college. Beyond that, he was able to get on the field right away. Some of the reasoning is that teams wanted to test Queen, but Queen ended up with a ton of tackles in his career so far. He has 321 career tackles.
Below is the list of players to record that many tackles before they turned 24 years old.
Name | Games | Tackles | Tackles/Game |
---|---|---|---|
Luke Kuechly | 48 | 473 | 9.9 |
Tremaine Edmunds | 61 | 463 | 7.6 |
Ray Lewis | 44 | 414 | 9.4 |
Roquan Smith | 44 | 361 | 8.2 |
Devin White | 45 | 359 | 8 |
Kwon Alexander | 40 | 335 | 8.4 |
Patrick Queen | 50 | 321 | 6.4 |
Junior Seau | 46 | 316 | 6.9 |
Patrick Willis | 32 | 315 | 9.8 |
The Baltimore Ravens having Roquan Smith on the list as well is an added bonus. There are quite a few elite talents, and some of the best in recent history appear on this list. No matter what you think of Patrick Queen it is a feat to be here. At the same time, you do see a name like Kwon Alexander and see that tackle stats may be inflated in recent years.
Another key highlight to bring out is that Queen is averaging 6.4 tackles per game, which is the lowest amount on the list. He gets an added game each year, but also some of these players started even younger. In the case of Willis, he did it in just two seasons, while Queen did it in three.
So, while Queen being mentioned with all of these is impressive, we cannot just come out and say Queen is now on track to be elite, or that things will turn on after his age 24 season. This just speaks to the fact that while he has disappointed, he has also been on the field, and has maintained the ability to make tackles. Also, he is still at the age where there is room for improvement.
It is a small added factor that makes this situation even more interesting as we head into the last season of his rookie contract.
