Breaking: Ravens rule out Mark Andrews for Week 1 game vs. Houston Texans

The Baltimore Ravens confirmed the worst possible news ahead of their season opener against the Houston Texans later today officially ruling out TE Mark Andrews for their Week 1 matchup at M&T Bank Stadium.

Reports emerged on Saturday speaking about Andrews being closer to sitting this game out rather than playing, and the franchise made the official announcement in their final injury update before kick-off.

Both Andrews and the coaching staff seemed to be happy with the status of the leading pass catcher of the Ravens, but they ultimately made the business decision of leaving Andrews out of the Week 1 game so he doesn't risk a setback in his rehab process.

Andrews has been dealing with a persistent quad injury since the preseason game warm-up in the clash with the Washington Commanders back in August.

The Ravens will need to use reserve tight ends Isaiah Likely and Charlie Kolar against the Texans TE1 Mark Andrews out and new Offensive Coordinator Todd Monken adept at using a spread attack featuring multiple pass-catching options.

Fullback Patrick Ricard might take on a larger role than initially anticipated, should Todd Monken decide to utilize him on the majority of the offensive snaps over one/both of Likely and Kolar.
