We need more Charlie Kolar content. It’s what we deserve. The Baltimore Ravens tight end had a career day against the Cincinnati Bengals, catching three passes for a career-high 64 yards. Who knew his breakout game would also signal his impromptu stand-up routine?
The Ravens came back from a double-digit deficit late in the fourth quarter to steal a victory in Cincinnati. They have now won three games in a row and sit at 3-2. The one constant in all of the Ravens' victories has been the dominance of running back Derrick Henry.
Henry has been the catalyst behind the Ravens’ offensive surge over the last three weeks. He's been impressive all season. After Sunday's game against the Bengals, Henry has 572 rushing yards and six touchdowns. He rushed for 92 yards and a touchdown alone against the Bengals.
It was yet another standout performance in Henry’s career, but none more critical than his game-sealing 51-yard run against the Bengals that clinched the Ravens’ improbable victory. And we aren't the only ones who noticed. Luckily, the media got Charlie Kolar to talk after the game to give football fans tasty soundbites.
Buffalo Bills catch stray shot from Charlie Kolar after Week 5 win
After the game, Charlie Kolar quickly became an online sensation. Who knew the third-string tight end had such a big personality? Not only did he jokingly refer to himself as the “fat white guy,” but Kolar also dropped an even more memorable quote in the locker room.
When asked about the best part of the game, Kolar delivered the perfect response, praising Derrick Henry and throwing serious shade at the Buffalo Bills.
Kolar's out-of-nowhere response indicates he has the pulse of his team. He's an awesome teammate for this. He could have taken the selfish route and talked about his own big night. He didn't. Kolar's favorite part of the game was when Derrick Henry took off for a game-sealing 51-yard run in overtime to set Ravens kicker Justin Tucker up for the game-winning field goal.
The quote came with some jokes and shade thrown in Western New York's direction. Kolar said he learned what the Bills felt like, and he was referring to the Ravens vs. Bills game in Week 4 when Derrick Henry took the Ravens' first snap 87 yards to the house. Many of the Bills defenders trailed Henry en route to the endzone and Kolar is poking fun directly at them.
What did the Buffalo Bills ever do to Charlie Kolar? Whatever it was, he clearly has not gotten over it. Kolar's response paints a hilarious image of the young tight end trying his best to keep up with Derrick Henry, just like the Bills attempted to do in their Week 4 matchup. Much like the Bills defenders, Kolar was unable to catch Henry to provide blocking assistance.
The jab likely stings even more for Bills fans, especially after suffering back-to-back losses, including Sunday’s 23-20 defeat to the Houston Texans. It’s like pouring salt in the wound.
