5 cornerbacks the Baltimore Ravens could trade for this preseason
1. Shaquill Griffin could be a trade candidate for the Baltimore Ravens
Shaquill Griffin was once a well respected cornerback in this league. He signed a nice deal with the Jaguars after a strong rookie contract with the Seattle Seahawks. Now, he is 28 years old, and on his third NFL team.
Griffin injured his back in week six of the 2022 season and missed the rest of the season from there. That is when the Jaguars moved on, and he caught on with the Houston Texans. However, he has tried to work himself back, but reports are that Steven Nelson is starting over him on the outside. With Derek Stingley, Jimmie Ward, Jalen Pitre, and Desmon King rounding out the secondary, the best action for Griffin will be depth cornerback.
He could stick around there and get healthy for a year, or the Houston Texans could realize that he is just a luxury and move on. This would take more than a conditional seventh-round pick, but it probably would not take too much to get the deal done. The Texans need picks after shipping off their first-rounder next year. For the Ravens, it gives them a starter on the outside, and for Griffin, he gets a chance to start again.
