Even Odell Beckham couldn't understand why Lamar Jackson didn't run more against the Chiefs
The Baltimore Ravens appeared to have their best shot at winning a Super Bowl in quite some time but that dream died when the team failed to score more than 10 points in a loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs were playing in their first road AFC Championship Game of the Patrick Mahomes era but that didn't matter because the Ravens went away from what made them dangerous offensively.
Odell Beckham Jr. couldn't believe that the Ravens weren't doing what made them lethal and said so to Lamar Jackson during the AFC title game. OBJ's exact words were "You change the whole dynamic of the game when you take off. We gotta get some s*** going on, like what the f*** is going on?"
OBJ didn't understand Ravens offensive game plan
Jackson will likely win his second MVP when the NFL awards are handed out for the 2023 season but in another playoff game, he failed to do what made him dangerous in the first place. The former first-round pick out of Louisville rushed for 54 yards in the 17-10 loss, which did lead the team for what it's worth.
It was even more frustrating that Baltimore opted not to run the ball because stopping the run has been a weakness for what's otherwise been a fantastic Chiefs defense. In Buffalo the week before, the Bills ran for nearly 200 yards against KC while Josh Allen dashed for 72 yards on 12 carries. The Ravens only ran for 81 yards on 16 carries.
The Ravens offense was the most lethal when they were running the ball down their opponent's throats mixed in with Jackson taking off with the football. They got away from that and it cost them a trip to the Super Bowl.
Beckham had three catches for 22 yards in the loss.
