Former Baltimore Ravens edge rusher Jason Pierre-Paul is reportedly putting an end to his Saints stint and is expected to sign with the Miami Dolphins, a source has told Marcel Louis-Jackques of ESPN. The move is seemingly related to the season-ending Achilles injury suffered by Dolphins linebacker Jaelan Phillips, according to ESPN.

Pierre-Paul is a Florida native and he already signed a deal earlier this year when he joined the New Orleans Saints' practice squad back on Nov. 15. Players in reserve squads are subject to getting signed by other teams at any point, and that's what the Dolphins did on Monday by snatching JPP from New Orleans.

Ian Rapoport of ESPN was the first to report the news on Monday, adding that Miami plans to add him to his 53-man active roster for the remainder of the season.

Pierre-Paul spent the 2022 season with the Ravens appearing in 14 games and racking up 26 tackles (including five for a loss) along with three sacks, three quarterback hits, and one interception in those matches.

The pass rusher decided to wait for the whole summer and already halfway into the 2023 regular season to finally sign with a team, the New Orleans Saints, back on Nov. 15.

With the Saints never adding him to their active roster for the full season (although they elevated JPP once for the game against the Atlanta Falcons last Sunday) and JPP officially part of their practice squad, the Dolphins were able to capitalize by signing the veteran 2010 first-round pick to their 53-man roster without any issue.

JPP made clear that he was going to ring-chase with a contender this season before signing (surprisingly for that matter) with NOLA, but this new transaction surely makes all of the sense if all he wants is to get a championship.

"I'M COMING HOME," Pierre-Paul stated in an Instagram post shared with his followers on Monday following the news of his signing with the Dolphins, confirming the move to South Beach.

"I would like to thank the New Orleans Saints and the organization for giving me the opportunity to play for them," Pierre Paul added.

In the game against the Falcons last Sunday, Pierre-Paul's lone appearance this season in the NFL, he logged two tackles while clad in Saints threads.
