Identifying locks on Baltimore Ravens 53-man roster before preseason 2023
Every year around training camp, you are about the roster bubble. Certain players are on the roster bubble. Who are these players on the Baltimore Ravens? Well, the easiest way to define who is in the bubble is to decide who the locks are. So, we will go through each position and choose, then find out how many spots are actually on the line.
Locks for the Baltimore Ravens 53-man roster
Quarterback: (2) Lamar Jackson, Tyler Huntley
Although we wrote that Tyler Huntley is a lock, he may as well be for this exercise. Besides that, the backup quarterback will not be on the bubble.
Running Back (3): JK Dobbins, Gus Edwards, Patrick Ricard
There is a small chance that Ben Mason unseats Ricard, but from where he stands now he should be a lock.
Wide Receiver (5): Zay Flowers, Odell Beckham, Rashod Bateman, Nelson Agholor, Devin Duvernday
These five are as locked in as you can be, and the only question is if a sixth wideout joins them, and who?
TIght End (3): Mark Andrews, Charlie Kolar, Isaiah Likely
As long as Kolar is healthy, he is a lock for this roster. The other two are in stone.
Offensive Line (10): Ronnie Stanley, Kevin Zeitler, Tyler Linderbaum, Ben Cleveland, Morgan Moses, Daniel Faalele, Patrick Mekari, Sam Mustipher, John Simpson, Sala Amuave-Laulu
It sounds crazy, but I view all five starters, and all five backups as locks. There may not be any lineman on the bubble as of now when you consider the 11th man in this depth chart is probably a rookie UDFA.
Defensive Line (5): Justun Madubuike, Travis Jones, Broderick Washington, Michael Pierce, Brent Urban
Brent Urban is the only debate, but he makes it on for now. Angelo Blackson is not a lock yet, but may make it as a sixth or even try to push Urban.
Edge Rushers (4): Odafe Oweh, David Ojabo, Tys Bowser, Tavius Robinson
These four should be locked in, and the only question is if an outside signing impacts anything.
Linebacker (4): Roquan Smith, Patrick Queen, Trenton Simpson, Malik Harrison
A fifth linebacker may be added, but these are locked in, and not many people would argue otherwise.
Cornerback (2): Marlon Humphrey, Rock Ya-Sin
This seems crazy, especially with ten locks on the offensive line, but I could not bring myself to say anyone else is surely on the roster. We will debate this more heavily on the roster bubble discussion.
Safety (4): Kyle Hamilton, Marcus Williams, Geno Stone, Brandon Stephens
They probably do not need a fifth safety, especially when the top four are this locked.
Specialists (3): Jordan Stout, Justin Tucker, Tyler Ott
That leaves us with 45 roster locks. So, there is a bubble, but it can only fit eight players, Check out our bubble watch later this week, where we look at who has the best chances to fill those eight spots.
