The Baltimore Ravens have been dealing with nothing but Lamar Jackson headlines in recent days, weeks, and months. While Lamar Jackson demanded a trade, and the timing of it seemed to be an attempt to make the Ravens upset, it still does not lock in the idea that Jackson will be traded.
Lamar Jackson could still re-sign with Baltimore Ravens
Ian Rappoport went onto the Pat McAfree show recently and he confirmed exactly that. He also said that he thinks the most likely outcome is still for the Ravens to sign Lamar Jackson.
The quote says that the Ravens want to get a deal done, but if you watch the video, a strong quote also suggests that Jackson has not completely ruled out the idea of sticking with Baltimore.
Rappoport says that while Jackson demanded the trade, the tone of the demand is that if Baltimore does not offer a better deal, that is his stance. If Baltimore offers a different deal, he will reconsider his stance. As the report suggests Jackson has not completely cut off ties with the team.
So, this is not over yet, and it does sound like the Ravens and Jackson still think this could be worked out. One thing helping the Ravens is the lack of interest league-wide. When you add in the Ravens' plan to match any deal, they have Jackson in a spot where they will only trade Jackson if they want to.
Lamar Jackson tweeted that a three-year, $133 million was offered to him by the Ravens. If they went for a three-years, and $150 and all of it was guaranteed, does that make him reconsider the trade request? Or is $250M really the number he is set on?
We will find out soon enough. Still, for now, even though things sound like they will never come together, the most likely scenario is the Baltimore Ravens and Lamar Jackson reaching an agreement. We will get a lot more resolution to this when the draft ends.
