10 major questions emerging from Baltimore Ravens blowout win over Seattle Seahawks
9. How valuable is Patrick Mekari to the Baltimore Ravens?
Patrick Mekari may end up as one of the most underrated players in the NFL. He has been asked to do a lot with the Baltimore Ravens this season. In week one, he had to step in for an injured Ronnie Stanley. He held down the left side for weeks two through four, and then in week five, the Ravens needed him to shift to the right side.
What this meant was playing against Myles Garrett in week four and TJ Watt in week five. Since Garrett rushes against left tackles and Watt against right tackles, almost nobody has to see this duo in back-to-back weeks as Mekari did.
He did not win every snap, but he did what he had to do. Now, against the Seahawks, the team has asked him to step into right tackle again. He was not spectacular, but the win says that he did well enough. How valuable is it to have a player who could start on the left or right side and not give a noticeable drop-off? For a team with Super Bowl aspirations, this is huge.
