Mark Andrews celebrated his 28th birthday in the coolest possible way
Great news came out of Baltimore on Wednesday as Mark Andrews celebrated his 28th birthday and he joined his teammates on the practice field for the first time since running some pre-game warmups back in Aug. 21st.
As coach John Harbaugh had announced earlier this week, Andrews' return was expected for Wednesday, on the day he turned 28, and that's exactly what happened. Speaking after yesterday's practice, Harbaugh also said that he expect the tight end to play on Sunday.
"He looked good, he looked fine," Harbaugh told reporters (per BaltimoreRavens.com) when asked how Andrews looked on the field in his return to practice.
Now, you tell me how many cooler ways of celebrating your birthday you can think of other than by taking to a football field donning the colors of your franchise. Not many, I'd say.
Andrews had missed the six practices before Wednesday's, so watching him back even in a limited capacity was great news for fans and coaches of the Ravens alike. Baltimore listed Andrews in their first injury report with a "quad" injury and labeled him "limited."
With the team now operating under regular-season rules, it's not quite clear to which extent Andrews did or did not practice.
Andrews was seen on the field running some drills through the first 15 minutes of practice, which are open to all media members attending the training, but nobody knows what happened after that.
One player who didn't make it to The Castle on Wednesday was Marlon Humphrey, who keeps rehabbing his foot after undergoing surgery at the end of August.
Ronnie Stanley, who has missed ample time following an injury he suffered in 2020, was limited on Wednesday with an ankle injury, although this can be seen more as a precautionary measure taken by the Ravens rather than the tackle suffering any real injury/setback ahead of Week 1 next weekend.
