Mark Andrews, Odell Beckham Jr. left Ravens practice early on "rep counts"
The Baltimore Ravens kicked off another weekend of practices, the third of their training camp, looking ahead to the first pre-season game against the Philadelphia Eagles scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 12.
On Monday, Day 11 of the Ravens' training camp and the 10th time they practiced at The Castle, two key members of the offense vital for the Ravens' Super Bowl aspirations left the field earlier than expected.
Veteran wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. and tight end Mark Andrews didn't complete the full session on Monday as reported first by Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic.
Head coach John Harbaugh explained both exits after the day of work was over, saying that OBJ was on a "pitch count" and that Andrews' exit was related to the hot weather.
Ryan Mink of BaltimoreRavens.com quoted HC Harbaugh saying "[OBJ was on] just a rep count."
The coach added that the wideout "had enough," following that by claiming "His numbers were there, [he] worked hard, had a great day, and we're just going to monitor that as we go."
"Like we said, we'll be smart about it," Harbaugh finished.
Regarding Andrews, Jonas Saffer of The Baltimore Banner reported from camp about the tight end "[sitting out] the final 50 minutes or so of practice." The beat reporter quoted Harbaugh blaming that on "the weather conditions" and explaining the exit as something "precautionary."
On top of that, the Ravens had to run a few reps without freshly-inked running back Melvin Gordon, who according to Saffer was "stretched out on the field midway through practice," although he "eventually returned and rejoined team drills."
Zay Flowers and Isaiah Likely also "left team drills briefly" at some point with "apparent minor foot injuries," although the two of them "returned to the field," wrote Saffer.
Saffer also reported that wide receiver Rashod Bateman and safety Geno Stone, both currently sidelined for different reasons, "ran on an adjacent field" and "had his left ankle taped" respectively on Monday.
