This WR is already proving his value to the Baltimore Ravens
When the Baltimore Ravens signed Nelson Agholor, the move was almost met with disdain. The fans wanted a big name\ and thought that the Ravens were settling for Agholor. When the Ravens signed Odell Beckham and drafted Zay Flowers, Agholor became an afterthought.
This WR is already proving his value to the Baltimore Ravens
Somehow, he shifted from overrated to underrated in the blink of an eye. Now that training camp is going, the value of Nelson Agholor is showing already, and it may carry through the season.
Agholor was signed primarily because he has experience at all three spots, X, Z, and in the slot. The Ravens have Beckham, Flowers, and Rashod Bateman, but Flowers is a rookie, and the other two are recovering from serious injuries. It was not clear how or when, but the Ravens knew that they needed Agholor.
So, now we are here, and the team is missing Bateman, who is starting on the PUP. The Ravens appear to remain optimistic, but Bateman missed almost all of the offseason workouts as well. The team thought he might be healthy by now.
So, this is what Agholor is here for. He immediately has stepped into first-team repetitions and has been getting that work all offseason. Agholor is gaining a huge leg up when it comes to developing chemistry with Lamar Jackson.
More than that, the Ravens are viewing him as a team leader. Zay Flowers said that Agholor is one of the leaders he has spoken to in the locker room on the adjustment to the NFL.
Fans will scoff at the idea, but this is a former first-round pick who is on his fourth NFL team. He has won a Super Bowl and faced the Philadelphia market. He also was the top dog on a bad Raiders team and was with one of the best coaches ever in New England.
So, Agholor is not a fan favorite and was not an elite talent that many would think went round one, but he has sustained a long NFL career, and he has plenty of wisdom for young players to appreciate.
Aghololor has stepped up on the field for Rashod Bateman and off of the field for Zay Flowers. This is why they signed him.
