The Baltimore Ravens secondary issues continue as the team is placing Ar'Darius Washington on the IR. Washington has started the first two weeks in the slot and has played the majority of the coverage snaps. So, without Washington, they will have to look for more help in the slot.

What are the best options for replacing Ar'Darius Washington?

3. The Baltimore Ravens will likely start Arthur Maulet in the slot

In most case scenarios, the Baltimore Ravens will simply start Arthur Maulet. The plan back in the summer was for Maulet to be ahead of Ar'Darius Washington on the depth chart anyway. He started in the slot for the Pittsburgh Steelers last season. For his career, Maulet has 963 snaps in the slot. If they need a veteran starter who can jump in on the fly, it is Arthur Maulet.

However, the reason Washington has started and Maulet has been inactive for two weeks is that Maulet missed most of the training camp and preseason due to an injury. He was able to get back right before the season started, but after Washington spent a month starting and practicing, he won the job.

Now, Washington is the one injured, and Maulet has been healthy for over three weeks. The most likely option is that Maulet will be called up and activated for the next four weeks while Washington sits.

The team will continue to rotate Rock Ya-Sin and Ronald Darby because they are working back from injuries. Brandon Stephens will remain on the outside, and the team will slot Maulet in for Washington. It takes the least shuffling and is the quickest to handle in one week. Now, the question is if this sustains when Marlon Humphrey returns, and who would be the potential backup to Maulet if needed?
