Predicting which Baltimore Ravens players make the final 53-man roster
Now that the Baltimore Ravens preseason is over, we will be looking at which players have the best chance to make the 53-man roster.
Quarterback (2) - Lamar Jackson, Tyler Huntley
For now, we have Tyler Huntley over Josh Johnson. However, his injury status may not make this much of a debate. The Ravens can place Huntley on IR once he makes the 53-man roster, and he at least has a chance to return. The Ravens can release Josh Johnson without losing him to waivers, and they can re-sign him once Huntley heads to the IR.
Running Back (5) - JK Dobbins, Gus Edwards, Justice Hill, Keaton Mitchell, Patrick Ricard
Keaton Mitchell surprisingly did not play in the preseason finale, which either signals the team was hiding him or he was a roster lock. We think the latter makes sense.
Wide Receiver (6) - Rashod Bateman, Zay Flowers, Odell Beckham, Devin Duvernay, Nelson Agholor, Tylan Wallace
Tylan Wallace has played well enough in the past three seasons to make the Baltimore Ravens roster, but the key has been his special teams value.
Tight End (3) - Mark Andrews, Isaiah Likely, Charlie Kolar
Travis Vokolek should easily find his way to the practice squad, with these players being locks.
Offensive Line (8)- Ronnie Stanley, Kevin Zeitler, Tyler Linderbaum, Sala Aumavae-Laulu, Morgan Moses, John Simpson, Daniel Faalele, Patrick Mekari
Ben Cleveland is the big name missing here. He has not done enough, and we know that the coaches are not fans. The hope here is that the Ravens can work out a trade, and recoup a conditional day three pick for him.
Defensive Line (5) - Justin Madubuike, Broderick Washington, Travis Jones, Michael Pierce, Brent Urban
Angelo Blackson is a player who could easily be on the roster. He is also a veteran, so he will not clear waivers. The Ravens may give him a similar situation to Josh Johnson, where he gets cut but circles back minutes later after roster shuffling.
Edge Rushers (5) - Jadeveon Clowney, Odafe Oweh, David Ojabo, Tavius Robinson, Jeremiah Moon (Tyus Bowser on PUP)
With Tyus Bowser on the PUP, we have Jeremiah Moon making it over Angelo Blackson, but that could easily be switched.
Linebacker (5) - Patrick Queen, Roquan Smith, Del'Shawn Phillips, Malik Harrison, Trenton Simpson
Trenton Simpson has failed to beat out Del'Shawn Phillips, which is what has locked him onto the Baltimore Ravens roster.
Cornerback (6) - Marlon Humphrey, Rock Ya-Sin, Ar'Darius Washington, Ronald Darby, Brandon Stephens, Jalyn Armour-Davis
Jalyn Armour-Davis got healthy just in the nick of time. He was close to losing his roster spot, and it is still not a lock with Kevon Seymour and Kyu Blu Kelly in the mix here.
Safety (5) - Marcus Williams, Kyle Hamilton, Geno Stone, Daryl Worley, DeAndre Houston-Carson
DeAndre Houston-Carson was signed late into training camp, but he has the experience and special teams value that he should stick on the 53-man roster.
