Changes expected regarding the Left Guard Battle

Luke Jones of Baltimore Positive reported following practice that the Ravens "are excited about the progress of rookie Sala Aumavae-Laulu," adding that Harbaugh "confirmed they’ll take a look at veteran John Simpson next week."

During the first seven days of practice, rookie SAL has been taking reps with the first unit at LG, but that will change starting on Day 8 with Simpson taking most of the first-team reps while Sala drops to the second unit.

Harbaugh also said, though, that both players will be moved up and down the pecking order to see how they fit with the rest of the line members and teammates.

"Next week, we’ll flip it," Harbaugh said as quoted by Timothy Dashiell of The Baltimore Sun. "Simpson will go with the ones and ‘Sala’ will go with the twos, so two weeks in … we’ll look at both guys with both groups of guys," Harbaugh added.

As far as Ben Cleveland's chances at winning the starting gig at LG go, he seems to be the odd man out of such a race.

"I think Ben just needs to continue to grow and get more consistent, and he’s working at that," OL coach Joe D’Alessandris said after practice. "We’ll see how that plays out," he finished.
