The 2024 preseason has wrapped up, and with it, the curtain has fallen on quarterback competitions across the league. For the Baltimore Ravens, there was no drama about who would take the snaps. However, many of their upcoming opponents weren’t so settled.

As the NFL season unfolds, changes are inevitable. Injuries and performance shifts could shake up the rosters, meaning the quarterbacks the Ravens face in week one might not be the same as those they encounter by midseason. It’s an ever-changing landscape that keeps teams on their toes.

Even with these uncertainties, we can take a closer look at the quarterbacks lined up against the Ravens this season. Since the quarterback position is crucial in football, understanding these matchups gives Ravens fans insight into what to expect and ramps up the excitement for the 2024 season. Ravens flock!

Ranking every starting quarterback the Ravens play in 2024:

14. Daniel Jones, New York Giants - Week 15

Daniel 'Danny Dimes' Jones is expected to be the starter Week 1. Who knows if he'll last as the starter all season? The Giants are as close to dumpster fire as it gets. The addition of Malik Nabers finally gives the Giants someone interesting on offense, but Nabers can only plug so many holes on this sinking ship. If Jones' preseason was any indication of how he'll play this season, YIKES.

Regardless if Jones is the starter or not Week 15, the combination of Drew Lock and Tommy DeVito still wouldn't move the Giants off the bottom spot. Jones could show signs of improvement this season, but it's still a moot point.

13. Gardner Minshew, Las Vegas Raiders - Week 2

Minshew gets the starting nod for Week 1 and it's a relatively safe bet he'll be the man calling the plays Week 2. The Ravens don't have many weeks against bad quarterbacks, so they'll have to feast against the Raiders.

Maybe Minshew plays poorly enough to lose the starting job. Aidan O'Connell is waiting in the wings and he's no one to be afraid of. The Raiders will have a tough go on offense this year and it wouldn't be surprising if they were looking for their next QB via the draft next season.

12. Russel Wilson, Pittsburgh Steelers - Weeks 11 and 16

Russell Wilson's career has really gone downhill over the past couple of seasons. He's simply no longer a good quarterback in the NFL. It might seem like an overreaction to his recent play, and while recency bias is totally affecting his ranking, the list of QBs the Ravens play this year is brutal.

The Broncos spent a lot of money when they released him, knowing they didn't have a reliable backup or a top-10 pick to secure a new quarterback. If that doesn't convey where Wilson's performance currently stands, then not much else will.

11. Deshaun Watson, Cleveland Browns - Weeks 8 and 18

Watson, like Wilson, has seen his shine dimmer. He's struggled mightily since the off-field issues came to light and he signed with the Browns. If he struggles again this season, there may be no more chances for the former three-time Pro Bowler.

Watson has 12 starts to his name in Cleveland. He's completed less than 60 percent of his passes for 2,217 passing yards and 14 touchdowns. Additionally, the best ability is availability which Watson has close to none.

10. Bo Nix, Denver Broncos - Week 9

It might seem unfair to rank a rookie ahead of Wilson and Watson, but 2024 be crazy. Nix hasn't played a regular season game yet, so it's tough to truly gauge where he's at. Regardless, his preseason performances inspired hope in Denver for the first time since the Wilson debacle.

When the Broncos selected Nix, many thought it was an overreach. He could end up being a reach and undeserving of the ranking, but he comes into the league pro-ready with a strong offseason under his belt.

9. Jayden Daniels, Washington Commanders - Week 6

Along with Nix, rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels hasn't played an NFL regular-season snap yet. Despite this, Daniels finds himself ahead of Nix mainly due to his draft pedigree and expectations.

Jayden Daniels really shined in the preseason, showcasing why he was a top pick. He ran the offense confidently, delivering passes with precision and power. He also proved he’s a real threat on the ground. When he played to his strengths, Daniels was exactly the quarterback the Commanders hoped for.

8. Baker Mayfield, Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Week 7

Overlook Baker Mayfield at your own peril. He might be the most underrated quarterback in the NFL. An outcast, Mayfield latched on with the Bucs last season where he put up impressive numbers. He started to show the talent that made him the first overall pick in the 2018 NFL draft.

His ability to throw the ball and his fearlessness make him a dangerous quarterback. Mayfield shares a lot of similarities with Brett Favre in his playing style, although he lacks consistency. He's a natural gunslinger who is unpredictable, capable of making plays with his arm, and unafraid to take risks.

7. Justin Herbert, Los Angeles Chargers - Week 12

If arm talent alone determined rankings, Herbert would be much higher on this list. He excels in his performance and can at times play like the best quarterback in the league. However, there are also moments when he looks very good but nothing more.

Herbert has the highest ceiling out of all the quarterbacks not named Patrick Mahomes. He has ideal size at 6-foot-6 and can fit the ball anywhere. By Week 12, Herbert could be enjoying an All-Pro-level season, making a seventh-place finish look foolish.

6. Jalen Hurts, Philadelphia Eagles - Week 13

Is Jalen Hurts elite, or not? How well does he gel with head coach Nick Sirianni? Those questions are valid and tough to answer but Hurts is a good enough signal caller to warrant the sixth spot here.

The Eagles will have the best skill position talent this season. This should further drive the narrative that Hurts is an elite QB. Unfortunately for Hurts (and the Ravens) he comes in sixth largely because the five quarterbacks in front of him are better. Again, this season is a gauntlet.

5. C.J. Stroud, Houston Texans - Week 17

C.J. Stroud is coming off one of the best rookie seasons a quarterback has ever seen. He earned offensive rookie of the year and finished in the top 10 in MVP voting. That just doesn't happen for rookie signal callers.

Stroud threw for 4,108 yards and 23 touchdowns last season without Stefon Diggs. This receiving core is going to be a nightmare this year and Stroud has the talent to make this fifth-place ranking look silly by Week 17.

4. Dak Prescott, Dallas Cowboys - Week 3

The hate Prescott gets is understandable, but also pretty unwarranted. The guy can ball. Prescott is in a relatively similar position to Lamar Jackson. Both are talented quarterbacks who just can't seem to get over the playoff hump.

Prescott is coming off a season where he completed a career-high 410 passes with a career-high 69.5 completion percentage for 4,516 yards and another career-high 36 touchdowns. He finished second in MVP voting. He's good. Don't get it twisted.

3. Josh Allen, Buffalo Bills - Week 4

Josh Allen is a tough quarterback to play against. He has elite arm talent and can beat you with his legs if you're not careful. His two-way play resembles one Lamar Jackson, but not quite on the same level of playing field.

Allen lost Stefan Diggs this offseason and the receiver room has more question marks than answers. However, Allen is elite and this isn't his first rodeo. He gets the third spot here which is crazy because, for many NFL schedules, Allen would earn the top spot.

2. Joe Burrow, Cincinnati Bengals - Weeks 5 and 10

Joe Burrow or Josh Allen at number two? It's a tough question to ask, especially at this point in time. But, the nod goes to Burrow simply because when he's healthy he is the closest on-field talent to Mahomes other than Lamar Jackson.

Burrow is coming off another season-ending injury. There are legitimate concerns about his health. The Bengals added good players to their offensive line this offseason to ensure Burrow remains upright. If Burrow remains upright, he is going to be a nightmare to scheme against. Burrow beats out Allen by a hair.

1. Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs - Week 1

Knowing that the Ravens were going to play the Chiefs in Week 1, was there any surprise? Patrick Mahomes is as close to a cheat code as there gets. His talent is undeniable. He is in a tier by himself with no one relatively close.

There could be thousands of words spent on why Mahomes is easily the best QB the Ravens will play this season. Could be. But fingers cramp so we won't harp on it. He's approaching GOAT territory, he's the best QB the Ravens will play this season. And it's not close.
