Ravens escape massive trouble with new injury update

Baltimore Ravens safety Kyle Hamilton suffered an injury in the overtime 37-31 victory over the Los Angeles Rams and after the initial season-ending fears it looks like Hamilton will return to the field soon against all odds.

After an MRI on his knee following Sunday's victory over the Rams was fed to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the insider reported on Monday that Hamilton is dealing with a sprained MCL, making his status "week-to-week" after Week 14 for his eventual return.

Hamilton has racked up 69 tackles this season to go with three sacks, two interceptions (one of them returned for a touchdown), nine batted passes, and a forced fumble.

The timing of his injury can't be worse, mind you, as the Ravens will be facing tough-as-nails opponents throughout the remainder of their regular-season schedule, including trips to Jacksonville and San Francisco as well as home games against the Dolphins and the Steelers in January.

The injury is believed to have originated in the first quarter of the Ravens' win when Hamilton collided knees with Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua and then made a weird landing on the field.

Although initially deemed questionable to return on Sunday, Hamilton eventually returned later in the game, and played a few snaps in the second quarter, but was eventually ruled out for the remainder of Sunday's matchup in the third frame of the Week 14 game.

Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh confirmed that Hamilton's knee was "under evaluation," after Sunday's victory in his postgame presser when answering questions from the media members reporting from M&T Bank Stadium.

Harbaugh left Hamilton's availability for the upcoming game against the Jaguars up in the air, but this breaking news surely paints a good scenario for the safety going forward, even if he ends up missing next week's matchup.

If sidelined, the Ravens should be expected to turn to backup defensive backs such as veteran corner Arthur Maulet to step up in Hamilton's absence, but such absence should only last for a week or two according to reports.
