Potential Davante Adams trade destination spells trouble for Ravens
By Matt Sidney
On Tuesday morning, the NFL rumor mill kicked into high gear, and at the center of it was none other than star wide receiver Davante Adams of the Las Vegas Raiders. What started as idle speculation quickly escalated into something real when Adams officially requested a trade.
For a team like the Baltimore Ravens, fresh off a dominant win over the Buffalo Bills and once again proving they belong among the NFL’s elite, the thought of Adams in purple and black is the stuff of dreams. Pairing him with quarterback Lamar Jackson would give Baltimore the kind of offensive firepower that could make them nearly unstoppable.
But let’s be real—trading for a player of Adams’ caliber is a logistical nightmare. Whether it’s the Raiders’ steep trade demands or the salary cap gymnastics required, a deal like this is far from guaranteed.
Davante Adams trade to Steelers would be nightmare scenario for Ravens
But here’s where things get really concerning from a Ravens perspective: the Pittsburgh Steelers. As soon as Adams requested his trade, whispers began to grow louder that the Steelers could be in the mix. Antonio Pierce, the Raiders’ head coach, even fanned the flames by “liking” a social media post about Adams potentially leaving.
Remember, Pittsburgh was close to pulling the trigger on a trade for Brandon Aiyuk before the season started, so it’s no stretch to imagine them making a serious push for Adams now.
If the Steelers land Adams, it would be a disaster for Baltimore. Adams, in a Steelers uniform, would instantly transform their offense. Pittsburgh is already sitting at 3-1, and while they’re far from perfect, adding a game-changer like Adams would close the gap between them and the rest of the AFC North—fast. The Steelers could make a real play for the division crown, and suddenly, Baltimore’s path to the playoffs would get a lot more complicated.
The thought of Justin Fields clicking with Adams should make every Ravens fan cringe. Pittsburgh has the draft capital to make a deal happen, with rumors suggesting the Raiders are looking for a second-round pick and “additional compensation.” If the Steelers pull it off, it’s not just a blow for the Ravens’ Super Bowl hopes—it’s a direct threat to their AFC North dominance.
Let’s hope, for Baltimore’s sake, that this is one rumor that doesn’t come true.
