The Baltimore Ravens have announced they're bringing back quarterback Tyler 'Snoop' Huntley following a brief stint with their AFC North foe, the Cleveland Browns. He'll begin his second tenure with the Ravens on the practice squad, but presumably, he'll be the third quarterback on the depth chart in due time.

Josh Johnson is the only other quarterback on Baltimore’s 53-man roster alongside Lamar Jackson. Bringing Huntley back was a crucial move for the Ravens. While he’s no Lamar Jackson, his ability to both pass and run aligns more closely with the style of Baltimore’s lead quarterback than Johnson’s does.

Once the depth chart is finalized, he will likely be the second choice behind Lamar. Throughout the offseason, the Ravens had a lack of quality quarterbacks and few internal options for support. Fortunately, the Ravens benefit from the Browns' loss as Huntley returns to the team where he spent the first four seasons of his career.

The Ravens improved their QB room and locker room with the addition of Huntley

During his first four seasons with the Ravens from 2020 to 2023, Huntley was a dependable backup for Lamar Jackson, appearing in 20 games and starting nine times. He’s shown solid performance stats, completing 64.6 percent of his passes for 1,957 yards and tallying eight touchdowns. His ability to move on his feet was also evident, rushing for 509 yards and three additional touchdowns.

2022 was a career year for Huntley. He earned Pro Bowl honors His most notable moment came during the 2022 AFC Wild Card game against the Cincinnati Bengals. In that game, he threw for 226 yards and two touchdowns and ran for another 54 yards, although the Ravens ultimately lost 24-17.

After a brief period with the Browns this offseason, Huntley continued to impress, particularly in his final preseason game. He completed 17 of 22 passes for 146 yards and three touchdowns. However, he was released as Cleveland opted to keep Jameis Winston and Dorian Thompson-Robinson as their backup quarterbacks.

Now back in Baltimore, Huntley joins a quarterback room that includes the dynamic Lamar Jackson and veteran Josh Johnson. His return adds depth and experience, reinforcing the Ravens’ roster as they prepare for the season ahead.

It's important to note that the addition of Huntley is a major win for the Ravens. The team needed a dependable backup quarterback, and they found just that in Huntley, who is already familiar with the organization and playbook. With Huntley on board, the learning process should be much quicker than bringing in a new quarterback. This is an excellent move for the team.
